What is thermal imaging?
Thermal cameras look at the heat produced by an object. This gives an indication of the condition of the object.
Why thermal imaging?
All electrical equipment begins to deteriorate as soon as it is installed. The rate of deterioration depends upon factors such as age, quality of connections, and load and duty cycle among others. Thermal imaging allows the operator to see the heat produced by poor connections, overloaded circuits or incorrect cable selection.
What should be scanned?
You should scan any electrical equipment that cannot afford to fail. Failure causes downtime and can also lead to loss of associated or adjacent equipment, and even fire.
Is it just for electrical equipment?
No, scans can also detect heat in bearings or gearboxes; it will see belt slip or low oil level in power transmissions. It can locate temperature loss in freezers or ovens due to seal failure. It can even find White Ant nests within walls.
Is it expensive?
Not compared to the costs that can arise. How expensive would it be to have your electrical installation suddenly fail during your busiest time? What about replacing all of the equipment surrounding the faulty item due to heat damage or at worst fire. You may even be eligible for a discount on your insurance premium just by having us scan your equipment.
